I tried RGB modding my JVC TM-150CG PVM a while back with some help from the guide over on the Shmups forums, but wanted a cleaner, all round, better looking install / finish to what I had done.
After scouring reddit, someone suggested just buying the input card for it, which at the time (late 2019), the official ones were real pricey at around £200-£400, depending on where you bought them from. With a little bit of searching earlier this year in 2021, I came across the JVC IF-C01COMG RGB card from Retro Upgrades UK (link) that was compatible with my model
So I decided to purchase the RGB unit from them. They also have the BNC (YPbPr) version for component connectors, all for £49.99 which are compatible with the following JVC monitors:
Simple plug and play setup, slide the card into the slot on the back of the PVM and you are good to go. It really is that simple. You also have the added benefit of using… the audio out to connect to a sound system of your choice as well, if desired.
On the JVC PVM’s that have the input selector button panel on the front, with the card inserted, simply push input D and boot up your connected device and its on the screen in all its beautiful RGB visual spectacularness. Couldn’t believe how good it looked. I tested an RGBPi (with some retro games and videos) on it, alongside my PS2 and it looked absolutely superb. No sync issues or anything at all. This isn’t a sponsored post but the service from Retro Upgrades was excellent from start to finish. Placed my order, item arrived well packaged and padded and was literally opened, installed and in use within minutes, so thank you for that !
They also stock a whole range of different electronic parts for modding systems and PVM’s so check them out.
If you have a JVC PVM and don’t fancy tinkering / modding RGB into it yourself (which I do also recommend), then these cards are simply a must buy and they wont break the bank either !
